I purchased one for my daughter for this year at school. She’s in 5th grade, which is the last year of elementary school, and they typically tend to push harder work to get the kids ready for the type of work load they’ll have in middle school and high school. My daughter has dyslexia, which unfortunately was something I passed onto her. We have gotten passed the stigma that comes along with dyslexia and have educated her school enough that they know now that most dyslexics have above average IQ and that dyslexia is in the area of three dimensional processing and audio processing. So she totally knows she isn’t dumb, but it’s frustrating when reading and math isn’t clicking in the brain so you certainly feel dumb. I keep reminding her that dyslexia is lifelong and unfortunately it will always be hard even as an adult. You’ll always have it so you have no choice but to always try hard. She’s only 10 and she’s already exhausted in trying hard, but I told her that I’m pushing 40 and I’m exhausted and frustrated still, but I still gotta work hard and try harder. She has no choice in giving up. So the band is a reminder to never give up. I think sometimes people forget that some people in life have to live with always having to work hard and not having a choice in the matter, especially when it comes to adults looking at kids. It’s a tough world out there, you just gotta keep on keepin on and never give up. 👍🏻
