Story:
One of the best ways to find inspiration is to look to the past. For this painting, I wanted to explore the history of Unicorns. Unicorns have been around since antiquity, but I found myself drawn to the tapestries created in Medieval times. Rather than the white horses with horns we’re so used to seeing now, Unicorns back then had long necks and tails similar to that of a lion. In some ways, these older depictions made Unicorns seem more magical than what we think of now.
Creating this painting renewed my love for the rich histories and legends that are so often referenced in fantastical art. I hope that it helps you rediscover your belief in magic as well.
