One of the hardest things to accept in life is that we don’t have a whole lot of control over what other people do. Sometimes that can be very frustrating. I recently talked to one of my close friends about how much we despised doing group projects in school because we ended up doing all the work. One thing she said that stuck with me was, “they just don’t do anything, even if I tell them exactly what to do.

Boy, I’ve been there. It’s disappointing when you can’t control the amount of work other people put into something, especially when it’s supposed to be a joint project. 

I recently graduated (woohoo!), but I dealt with that frustration in school on several occasions. I was a board member of my college honor society for three years, and I bet you can guess that I experienced many moments where people didn’t exactly do what they needed to. I remember complaining to my mom about it, and she told me: “You can’t control what other people do. You can only lead yourself and do what you can do.”

I’m new to this whole adulting thing, but I know that sentiment applies to other aspects of life, as well. 

We don’t have control over other people, and as frustrating as that is, it also adds spice to life. Life’s unpredictable, and we all just have to go with the flow. None of us really know what we’re doing, so we can only do what we can and roll with it. I hope that, with this beautiful ZOX, you’re reminded that it’s okay not to have a grasp on everything in life. It’ll all work out, you just gotta go with it, and you’ll do great.
