Story
Happy Thursday, my friends. I have a question: how many of you actually keep up with your New Years' Resolutions? Probably not too many of us. If you're like me, in fact, you've probably forgotten which goals you actually set at the beginning of the year.
It's ironic that I even make a list because I know, every single year, it's unlikely that I'll actually keep up with them. Yet, I do it anyway. Why? I like having a list of goals to keep my mind on track. I like the opportunity to get better at something, learn new things, or stop doing something completely. It's like opening a door you hope to walk through. However, sometimes I don't always go through it.
The thing is: we set a lot of goals that we want to accomplish but don't.
Sometimes, that's okay. Other times... We need to hold ourselves accountable.
Goals are meant to drive us, not hinder us.
Most likely, if you're giving up on your goals, you're not setting the right ones. Or, you're really looking to solve an issue, but you're labeling it as a goal.
Goals focus on what can happen in the future. These are things you're excited to achieve. These are more closely associated with your hopes and dreams for life. Maybe you want to build a house from scratch or have four kids and live by the beach. It's said that goal-setters love to research, get creative with their goals, and have big visions of their future.
Problems are what hold us back in the present. I don't mean this in a negative way, though I know it sounds like it. But, what I mean is, these disrupt our routine and challenge us to look further into the details of a situation and figure out a way to get through them. Problem solvers adapt to their situations, solving issues to get to a result. The "goal," as many may define it.
Whether you're a goal-setter or a problem solver, you're looking for a solution, a finish-line – success. Either way you go about getting to your future, you're on the right track by identifying what the goals/issues are you want to solve.
From here, it's important to keep track of those goals and persevere, no matter the outcome.
Here are ways to stay on track with accomplishing your goals:
It's not always an easy path, but if you can persevere, you're going to accomplish amazing things.
The door is open. You just have to step through it.
Be bold,
Landri

This brings us to our Spotlight Strap this week – Hang in There! Here's a note from the artist, Velvet Ryan Whitt:
Hello, fellow Zoxxers! I can't tell you how honored I am to be chosen as a blog spotlight release! I've doodled and drawn my entire life and having a Zox Strap of my own has been a dream of mine for many years! Thank you for voting for me. ❤️ Hang in There was created when my love of drawing these kitties merged with a reminder I desperately need... Hang in There. I hate to admit that I've given up way too many times, and a few times, on some very big dreams. Those losses were heartbreaking. And other times, I've dug in my claws and held on...and accomplished more than I thought possible. I used to think of myself as someone who gave up too easily. But as I get older (and hopefully wiser), I'm choosing to reframe my thoughts and look back at my past accomplishments instead. When I consider them, I realize that I've got some pretty strong claws. We all go through ups and downs in our motivation and determination; that's normal. But when life is pulling you down so incredibly hard, what do you do? Do you look down like me, tempted to let go? Or do you look up and dig in? The good thing is, we can choose. No matter how many times you've fallen, the choice is yours. So hang in there my friend. Keep going. You might just surprise yourself.
