This is one of 3 special Straps we're releasing for Mother's Day. When my brothers and I were going over who was going to write descriptions for each of the straps I knew I needed to write about Live With Love. To me, it perfectly summed up our mother. I am the youngest of four children and it’s safe to say I was(and still am) definitely a mama’s boy. There are so many examples of different times that my mom has sacrificed so much to better me as a person and to help me grow into the man I am today.

I grew up in West Michigan and lived a pretty normal life. When the recession hit in 2008, my family was affected and our life was turned upside down. Our Dad had a great job until then, but when it hit, he was unfortunately one of the many people who lost their jobs. You see, at this time I was 11 years old and I had no idea that we were struggling to make ends-meet or that my parents were worried about losing the house and their cars. I can vividly remember being in middle school at the time and having my mom bring me and my friends a bunch of pizza’s. I was ecstatic, and naturally I was the most popular kid at the lunch table because MY mom was cool enough to bring my friends and I pizza. Believe me, it was a big deal back in the day. She would do this once a month or so. Since I was so young, I never really thought much about it and how difficult it was for her. Fast forward to last year, I was home visiting my parents and was having a nice heart to heart conversation with my mom and I asked her how she was able to do that for me with how tight we were on money back then. And I’ll never forget this conversation with her. She explained to me how bad things actually were and why we’d always close the garage door and leave the front lights off on the house. She talked to me about how she wanted me to feel like a normal kid, she told me how she didn’t want me to have to worry about us potentially losing everything, and she wanted the best for me. It turns out my mom would go and donate plasma before coming to my school, she would literally give her blood for me just so she could bring me a few pizzas for my friends and I to enjoy every couple of weeks. To top it off, she even got a job at the cafe at church, when I was younger I thought it was just because we were always at church helping out so she just got ‘promoted’ to help in the cafe. Turns out it was because money was that tight. Just writing this right now is making me teary eyed, because the amount of love our mother has for us is so far beyond comprehension that I cannot even begin to imagine how big or how wide it is for each one of her kids. My mom in my eyes is more than I have ever deserved and more than I could have ever asked for. God knew what he was doing when he blessed me with someone who lives with so much love for me.
