I’m obsessed with this Strap. Medusa’s story has always been rather enchanting to me (pun intended). Several versions tell of her life. She lived a fateful life, punished by Athena for her beauty to bear a head full of snakes, where, upon sight, she turned her onlookers to stone. She’s known as one of the most powerful monsters in Greek mythology, all because her love for Poseidon doomed her in Athena’s eyes.

Medusa’s perceived as a monster, but really, she was not at fault for her deposition. In fact, she took her plight and transformed it into a power to use to her advantage. She possessed such a powerful gaze that it turned those who viewed her as monstrous into stone, silencing them before they had a moment to speak ill about her. 

Today is Women’s Equality Day, which is why I’m so excited to discuss Medusa. As women, we’ve been through a lot historically. However, we don’t let oppression keep us from persevering and succeeding. Similar to Medusa, we’ve risen above our circumstances and broken through the mold that has been formed around us. Actions take courage, and if there’s one thing women have, it’s courage and immeasurable strength. Through everything that arises, I hope this incredible Strap reminds you how strong you truly are and that you may overcome any standards that try to hold you back.
