Story:

One of my best friends in high school had a quote in our yearbook that said "You don't need to blow out my candle to make yours brighter."

Over the years, I've actually thought about that quote quite a bit - I'd say it's a common feeling of many people all around the world who have been bullied. They're tired of being criticized by someone whose only agenda is feeling better about themselves.

Criticisms cut deep, whether it's intentional or not. Even more visible from a trusted friend or family member, hurtful words are a black hole of negativity. They are the darkness.

If our goal as a community is to leave this world better than we found it, we have to start with understanding the power of what we say.

I love this Strap because of its simple message: Be The Light. Be the person who lights other candles, not the one trying to put them out. Use the power of your words to heal those who need it so desperately. My hope for this Strap is that it will remind you that even in a world full of darkness, it only takes one flame to light the others.
